For the purposes of diving deep into this week’s episode of Vigorously with Val Kleinhans, I think it helps to explain how we’re going to use the term “alternative” throughout.
Simply put, when content creator and host Tasha Allen and I use the term “alternative” we’re largely speaking about alternative music and the culture that surrounds it. This typically refers to rock, punk, or metal specifically, due to their distance from mainstream and commercial music industry efforts. That’s what we’re talking about here.
When you add the black experience to the alternative one, you get a whole can of worms that isn’t discussed much. Until now.
