Does gatekeeping still exist in heavy metal?
We know it certainly did in the 80s. We know it continued into the 90s and early 00s.
As a female, don’t even get me started on how many times I’ve encountered the “name three songs” guy. If you’re a woman reading this, you’ve probably met him too.

In conclusion, yeah, it may happen from time to time – but it’s certainly not as prevalent as it was. Furthermore, it’s pretty much happening online only.
True metalheads love what they love and love it forever. Don’t let some rando ruin it for you.
