April Draven Shares Why The ‘Female Fronted’ Label Is A Tired Concept In Rock

If you’ve been a fan of rock music since its inception you know that (for whatever reason) female fronted bands are identified as so first. That idea is old. It’s tired. We’re no longer here for it.

For some reason, there’s still seems to be that gatekeeping in the rock world (ladies – raise your hand if you’ve ever been asked to “name three songs” while wearing a band tee… BARF!), but April Draven (of Down River) agrees that this is (slowly) changing in the genre. She has high hopes for its future.
