How To Be An LGBTQ Ally – [LISTEN]

Pride Month is upon us, and if we’re honest, this might be a little confusing for anyone who is “straight” – but it doesn’t have to be.

As a society, we’ve had wonderful conversations regarding inclusivity and we’re recognizing our faults. The work isn’t over, but the first step to acknowledging a problem is that there is one.

In this episode of Very Vogue with Val Kleinhans, I’m going to offer some tips on how to be an LGBTQ ally.

Please know that my intention with this episode is to provide information for other straight people. I’m one of them. I’m a basic heterosexual white girl who believes we should be doing better, and it’s my hope that these tips change the minds of those who aren’t comfortable with moving forward together yet. I’m still learning. Do forgive me if I use particular terminology incorrectly.

The absolute best place to get any resources on the LGBTQ community is GLAAD and you’re hearing their material a lot in this episode.

I also cited the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and University of California, San Francisco here.

Enjoy!
