I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one, but it looks pretty cool!
I browsed Instagram yesterday and noticed that my buddy Seth Jurovich (of Fully Controlled) was very active! He was making an announcement about something that Rochester hasn’t seen yet… at least, not to my knowledge.
Are you ready for this? Meet Hidden Village.
Let’s focus on one statement in particular in that post. I am all about representing the “misrepresented scene of underground hip hop in the Midwest.” It’s well past time for this.
I’ve been a hip-hop fan (mainly Snoop, Dre, Nicki Minaj, Nas, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Mos Def, and Wiz Khalifa) since the 90s. I’ve always had the impression that hip-hop (much like rock and metal) has had to “take care of their own” when it came to opportunities and representation. The world wasn’t handing them anything on a silver platter either.
This truly does sound like another safe haven created for music artists (and lovers) in the SE Minnesota area. It’s nice to see this!
It was after doing a little more reading that I learned Seth is a managing partner in Hidden Village.
Rochester, how does this sound to you?
