The #FaceApp Challenge Is Pretty Healthy If You Think About It

We’re so afraid of getting older, and yet when a fun app launches a feature that “turns us into old people” it’s just something hilarious to do!

Never in my life did I imagine that changing the way we look at aging (or presenting the concept in a different format) was possible in today’s society. However, the new #FaceAppChallenge is getting everyone involved!

This challenge is seemingly lessening our worries about aging because we’re getting a sneak peek at how it may affect us.

We’re all dying to see (and share) what we’ll look like when we’re older at the moment. We’re not afraid of it. We’re curious about it. We’re laughing at it. We’re enjoying the concept of aging, and doing what it takes to not make it appear so scary.

I suppose its time to show you my pic!

I could absolutely be freaked out about the wrinkles here, but you know what… I’m not.

Aging is only going to be more prevalent as we… well …age. In an odd way, this “challenge” is an advantageous preparation for the future. The Population Reference Bureau explains, “The number of Americans ages 65 and older is projected to nearly double from 52 million in 2018 to 95 million by 2060, and the 65-and-older age group’s share of the total population will rise from 16 percent to 23 percent.

Furthermore, “The older population is becoming more racially and ethnically diverse. Between 2018 and 2060 the share of the older population that is non-Hispanic white is projected to drop from 77 percent to 55 percent.” This seems kind of obvious.

I’m happy to take part in something that we’re all enjoying at the moment. I’m happy to look at aging in a humorous way instead of dreading it.

Kudos to FaceApp for turning our outlook on aging around for the moment!
