How To Dress For The 4th Of July Without Being A Clown

It’s more than red, white, and blue boo.

As Americans, we love celebrating the 4th of July. It’s the one day of the year where no one will questions how much red, white, or blue you’re wearing.

But are you really limited to just three colors during this patriotic occasion? If you ask me, I don’t think so.

I’m an American, but I’m not one that needs to bleed red, white, and blue to celebrate the 4th. So, I go for more subtle patriotic fashion alternatives. This can mean red, white, or blue prints in blouses or collared shirts, jeans, sunglasses, you name it! My whole outfit might not be soaked in red, white or blue, but I’ll celebrate with fashion in other ways.

Here’s the proof!

If you’re not one to bleed three colors strictly during this occasion, might I suggest the following?:

  1. Go for a white blouse as your “main” focus in your outfit: Why? Well, white looks great paired with any color. It’s a great summer color, fits in with the 4th of July theme, and you can rock red or blue shoes easily with a white blouse. It’s a simple canvas that you can paint your own way. You can see that I opted for white blouses above ( which I can wear your ’round), but paired them with fun sunglasses or shoes for the 4th.
  2. The smaller the color details, the more transferable the piece is: You don’t have to limit yourself to American flags or strictly red, white, or blue things on this holiday. White blouses with subtle red or blue detail fit in with the celebration, but can be worn for any occassion during the year too! What am I getting at? Play up red, white, and blue for the 4th, but feel free to dress down a white blouse with sweaters or loafers of any color for the rest of the year. Black jeans also rock with any white blouse.

I hope you found these tips helpful. Are you someone that goes all out for the 4th of July?
