I’m a proud member of the “I love a good band t-shirt” club since 2003.
If you are too, you might also feel the same way when it comes to styling them. It just seems like band t-shirts and jeans go together (with a good pair of converse) like peanut butter and jelly. They’re always put together automatically.
What if we decided to change that?
What if we decided that we wanted to give these favorite pieces of clothing a cool/stylish twist and show the world that there’s more to rock and metal fans than they think? Okay, that was pretty ambitious…but…
If you’re interested in stepping up your band t-shirt and jeans style, I’ve got a few suggestions for you. Take a look at how I styled some of mine in the gallery below.
Did you notice any themes or changes that I made to this classic look? Wanna try them your own way? Here are some tips you can use:
- Layer, layer, layer: There’s just something about a buttoned-down collared top that makes things look a little more polished. Throw your band tee over one and voila! You’ve now added a little more style. I did this with my Mötley Crüe t-shirt, and I was sure to layer it with a collared top that I thought went with the bands’ essence… leopard print.
- Cardigan power: Would Mr. Rogers have been so loved without his famous cardigans? Nah, son. For a cozy addition to your band t-shirt and jeans (and a warmer one!), throw on a cardigan.
- The power of a blazer: I’ve always felt like blazers have mystical powers. Throw one on over your band t-shirt, and you’ll automatically look more official and professional.
- Add boots, not sneakers: I get it – sneakers rule. However, if we’re going for an element of style try a cute pair of boots instead. It’s a perfect date night look!
